We gather twice on the Sabbath to hear the Word preached, receive the sacraments, pray together, and sing psalms and hymns to our God.
Our order of service
Our worship follows the pattern of the Word dialogically — God speaks, and we respond. Call to Worship. Invocation. Confession of Sin and Assurance of Pardon. Songs of Praise (Psalms, hymns, and occasionally contemporary songs consistent with our tradition). Pastoral Prayer. Reading of the Scripture. Preaching of the Word. Lord’s Supper (on the first Sunday of the month). Benediction.
The regulative principle
We hold to what our tradition calls the regulative principle of worship — the conviction that God tells us in Scripture how he is to be worshiped, and we do not add to or subtract from his Word in our public worship. This shapes what we sing, how we pray, what we read, and how we administer the sacraments.
The sacraments
We administer two sacraments as Christ instituted them: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is given to believers and their children upon profession or parental request; the Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, open to all members of Christ’s visible church.
Music
We sing from the Trinity Psalter Hymnal, which combines the Psalms of the Bible with the great hymns of the Church. Congregational singing is led by piano and occasionally organ. We value reverent, text-centered music in the Reformed tradition.
